How to build your first AI agent with AgentFoundry — no coding or tech skills required

You don't need to write code, paste an API key, or understand a single framework to build a working AI agent. If you can describe what you want in a sentence, you can build one this afternoon. Here's the whole thing, step by step, in plain language — the way a project manager, ops lead, or founder would actually do it.

First — what is an "AI agent"?

A chatbot answers a question. An agent does a job. You give it a goal — "read these support emails and draft replies," "pull the weekly numbers into a summary," "screen inbound leads and tag the good ones" — and it takes the steps to get there, using tools and your knowledge, and shows you its work so you can approve or correct it.

The catch, until now, has been that building one meant developer tooling: keys, SDKs, terminals. AgentFoundry removes all of that from the starting line. You describe the job; it builds the agent; you watch it run.

Step 1 — Open AgentFoundry and switch to Business mode

Install the app and open it. Up top you'll see two modes: Developer and Business. Click Business — no IDE, no code, no chrome. It's built for people who oversee agents, not people who write them. You'll land on the Build tab.

Step 2 — Describe your agent, then click Build

There's one box: "What should your agent do?" Write it the way you'd explain it to a new hire. For example:

"Read incoming customer support emails, figure out what each person needs, and draft a friendly reply I can approve before it sends."

Click Build. AgentFoundry drafts a plan, scaffolds the agent, and lands you on a running one — no framework choice, no jargon. Describe → Build → Run.

Step 3 — Watch it work in Mission Control

This is the part that makes it real. Open Mission Control and give the agent a task. You'll see it move through live columns — Queued → Running → Needs review → Done — and anything the agent wants to do that touches the outside world (send an email, write a file) pauses for your Approve / Deny. When it finishes, it opens a review drawer with what it actually did: the plan, the steps, the files it touched, and — when it built something you can look at — a screenshot proving it works.

No black box, no "trust me." You're overseeing a worker, not gambling on one.

Step 4 — Teach it what it doesn't know (optional)

Every business has knowledge an off-the-shelf AI doesn't: your tone, your policies, your product. In Skillify, you train the agent with that knowledge and test it in the same window. In Guardrails, you set what data it can touch and which actions it's allowed to take — plain toggles, no config files. This is human oversight, made simple: you decide the boundaries, the agent works inside them.

Step 5 — Publish or share it

Happy with it? Publish your agent to Agent21 in one click — connect, approve in your browser, done (no keys to manage). Now teammates can use the agent you just built, and you can find others in the catalog. Or keep it private and just run it yourself, on your schedule.

Why this works without code
